“ Traumas usually work in patterns. I look at these patterns in terms of rhythm, listening for the sounds they create, and their manifestation within the body. The work I propose aims to create new melodies within the body, breaking repetitious habitual acting, and making space for new ways of engaging, creating and living.”

Sound Therapy Sessions

Sound Therapy consists of one-hour sessions that nurture a physical, energetic, and spiritual alignment. In it, I offer somatic treatments with acoustic frequencies using a variety of instruments and tools. This approach offers support for Chi to run freely, so that we can sing the songs of our souls.

For sound to have a positive effect on an organism, it needs space and time to resonate. In each of our sessions, you will experience somatic expansion, deeper alignment, and increase of vital energy.

This work is about creating a new integrated body that anchors us and can cope with life’s challenges from an active, living point of view.

Overtones can open us to the information resonant with stars and planets already contained in the higher subtle energy fields, by aligning us to the natural order of earth and celestial energies. Overtones work like keys of resonance that open space in the aura where ancestral memories and cosmic messages wait.

Voicing Sessions

Voicing Sessions are personalized, one-hour sessions combining listening, talking, voicing and movement.

Our practical work together involves meditations, breathing exercises, movement, touching and free vocalization, getting in touch with your voice’s force. At the end of the session, we will move into a therapeutic elaboration. We will give words to what has just happened in the body, in its encounter with the vibration of the voice.

In our work, we will explore the voice as a tool that activates, connects and evokes the primordial logic of the body. Through this healing and complex musical instrument, we’ll move beyond the logic of verbal communication and the standardized songs of Western thought to discover your voice’s inherent force.

“When a symptom appears in a body, it is not a particular, individualized, private problem. Instead, symptoms are an appearance of the problems of the social field in subjectivity. Working with the voice not subordinated to speech, that is, with voicing and its intensive matter, the social field invested in the body becomes audible in a very unique way.

And it is through this singular listening to voicing that something curious occurs: the repetition patterns are heard, but once it is audible, a becoming can happen. That is because this “crazy” and “meaningless” voice, although having its domesticated side full of gimmicks, memories and traumas, is populated by incorporeal universes that make us enter into becoming.”  Mariana Marcassa

Voicing sessions involve touching the body and creating a safe and confidential space and happen in person respecting COVID-19 measures and everyone’s safety.

Artistic and Academic Accompaniment Sessions

Through Research-Creation Accompaniment Sessions / Artistic and Academic Accompaniment Sessions, I offer personalized sessions, accompanying artists and/or academics in their experimental process. For those who move between art, research, and academia, this transit – between art and research – is often painful. Bringing the same intensity experienced in the creation process to the surface of words and writing is not a simple and easy “translation”.

Throughout my academic and artistic trajectory, I have affirmed art as a clinical process. Art as an ethical criterion based on expansion of life; a vital affirmation towards new forms of existence. This process is directly related to the ability to produce oneself, to make desire resume its movement of production and differentiation of life.

Artistic and Academic Accompaniment Sessions are opportunities to open space of thinking within your art to nourish both your research and your life.

Artistic and Academic Accompaniment Sessions can occur either online or in person.

Group Sessions

Group Sessions are opportunities for collective therapeutic work. Group settings often make it easier to engage and let go.

In groups no larger than 10 people, we will explore “raw voice,” without tuning or subordination to the patterns of singing, music or speech. We will cultivate a voice that opens the body’s internal space, connects with close and distant memories and invites new ways of becoming. Through a variety of vital, therapeutic exercises, you will connect with yourself, otherness, and with your body — which expands your capacity to listen to what needs to be manifested.

This practical work involves breathing exercises, movement, touching and free vocalization.

In our work, we will explore the voice as a tool that activates, connects and evokes the primordial logic of the body. Through this healing and complex musical instrument, we’ll move beyond the logic of verbal communication and the standardized songs of Western thought to discover your voice’s inherent force.

Sound Meditations

Sound Meditations (A Concert for Otherness) are experimental, meditative, sonorous and multisensory concerts that I offer, often with musical collaborators. These 2h30 sessions occur by a series of encounters in a closed group. Email me to subscribe for the next group!

Blessingway: a sound-ritual for a mother-to-be

Blessingway: a sound-ritual for a mother-to-be is a ritual among women and non-binary people with the intention to offer strength, love, energy and blessing for the arrival of the new being. The idea is that we can honor the woman in her becoming- mother. This gentle ritual is guided by Mariana and happens with the active participation of the group of friends of the mother-to-be.
